Stability of elasto-plastic wide-flange columns
Analytic solution of differential equations of bending of elasto-plastic compression members composed of common structural sections in 2 steps of integration is made possible by introduction of appropriate variables of integration; use of suitable buckling criterion and simple graphical or numerical procedure makes it possible to obtain interaction curves for structural members loaded in compression and bending; solution includes previously treated column of solid rectangular cross section as special case and approximate semi-empirical equation, based on derived curves, is suggested.
