Effect of external tension on input of work during rolling process
Reference to article by A.I.Tselikov (previously indexed from Oct 1962 issue) where he examined cases of upsetting and rolling metal under tension from both ends; validity of his conclusion that overall input of work on plastic deformation does not depend on whether or not external tension is present, is questioned as to other cases; overall input of work on deformation of metal when metal is upset between parallel plates with application of external horizontal tension and when rolling strip under tension, is lower than if it is deformed without tension.
