Analysis of circular arches on elastic abutments
General method for analysis assuming that arches are subjected to uniformly distributed radial load; determination of forces and moments at critical sections is generalized through set of simple nondimensional parameters; simple method of determining suitability of such arches in arch dam design is illustrated; new constant correlating crown deflection and thrust is presented.
