Reactive aggregate undetected by ASTM tests
Canadian experience with apparently unusual case of cement-aggregate reaction for which standard tests were not effective; dolomitic limestone coarse aggregate was found that produces excessive expansion and cracking in concrete, mainly in sidewalks, walls and foundations; phenomenon was reproduced in laboratory with concrete prisms subjected to highly humid conditions or to wetting and drying test.
