Evaluating subgrade friction-reducing mediums for rigid pavements
Results of study of several friction-reducing mediums that were proposed by designers of prestressed concrete pavements are presented; data were developed by moving 6-ft sq slabs horizontally, alternately forward and backward several times; thrust necessary to cause horizontal movement of slab and magnitude of displacement caused by thrust were measured from time that first detectable movement took place until free sliding began.
