Rational "rational" method of storm drainage design
Method of storm drainage system design is presented which utilizes Rational Formula with modification to allow nonuniform runoff; system is designed for critical periods when flow in system or parts of system is maximum as determined from hydrograph of runoff; method is particularly suited for design of submerged systems, and was computerized; results of example problem show larger pipe sizes than would be found when using conventional method of adding times of flow in lines to concentration time at some arbitrary starting point.
