Earthquake behavior of reservoir-dam systems
Most work on analysis of earthquake effects on dams treats dam and reservoir as two uncoupled systems; importance of interaction between two systems is investigated; dams with vertical upstream face are dealt with; complex frequency responses, fundamental period of vibration, and responses to stationary white noise excitation are numerically evaluated for normalized excitation frequency, and ratio of fundamental natural frequencies of reservoir and dam separately; results demonstrate that interaction effects have considerable influence on behavior of system.
