Modal determination of effect of bond between coarse aggregate and mortar on compressive strength of concrete
Summary of report of authors that described experimental investigation which compared compressive strength of concrete made with glass marbles as coarse aggregate with compressive strength of concrete in which bond between motar and glass marbles was raised by coating marbles with thin layer of soft plastic; it is concluded that coating reduces compressive strength by up to 2.5 times, strength reduction being almost proportional to volumetric content of glass marbles in concrete.
