Critical stresses in circular ring
Application of " ring test" instead of test with short cylindrical prisms described; specimens for ring test are disks about 1-in. thick with small hole in center; they are placed in standard testing machine and loaded in compression until failure occurs; analysis of stresses discussed with aid of charts and tables; ring test must be used with caution for concrete because of latter's tendency to creep under tensile stress.
