Protection against corrosion of steel sheet piles in hydraulic engineering
Economical aspects of methods for extending service life of sheet piling in seawater are investigated; costs of bituminous, epoxy, and zinc coatings, cathodic protection, as well as additional cost of useful life extension by means of thicker profiles, higher steel grades, or welded reinforcing strips are presented in tables and diagrams; plots of life extension vs costs are given for cases of applying these methods at time of structure's erection and 15, 30, and 45 yr after erection.
