Fracture sizes produced by hydraulic fracturing of petroleum formations
Attempt is made to evaluate methods normally used to calculate extent of fractures by taking into account mechanical and tectonic characteristics of reservoir rock as well as conditions of fluid flow in fracture and through its walls, using various simplified hypotheses; approach applies to both horizontal and vertical fractures; FORTRAN computer program can be used to compute geometric expansion factors, average fluid pressure variation and treatment efficiency; some numerical examples are included.
