Pull out tests for bond resistance of high elastic limit steel bars
Tests through springs show up deformed bar in favorable light in comparison with plain bars, but splitting, of 3 in. diameter specimens by 3/8 in. deformed bars raises question regarding concrete cover necessary to safeguard against spalling as deformed bars approach sizes normally used in beams.
