Patented collar joins precast pile sections
Use of wedgefit pile connections in driving special prestressed piles to support 45-story apartment building in New Orleans, La; connections permit short sections of concrete piles to be driven in tandem, greatly extending range of medium-sized handling and driving rigs; 162 ft foundations were built with rig carrying leads only 80 ft tall; piles are joined together by ring of cast steel; ring acts as two-way female socket, accepting steel-jacketed ends of pile sections.
