Each of exterior load-bearing walls of 12-story office building in Durham, NC, is comprised of two massive columns supporting seven 20-ft-high Vierendeel trusses spanning 119 ft, and cantilevering 34 ft at each end; columns and trusses were built up from precast sections, with trusses being post-tensioned; use of trusses results in fenestration band on alternate floors being divided by vertical members of trusses; on remaining floors, fenestration is divided only by small mullions.
