Stability of cylindrical shells with hemispherical bottoms under external pressure
Critical buckling pressures for containment vessel were determined for various rigidity coefficients of cylinder expressed in terms of length-to-radius ratio; effect of ratio of cylinder wall thickness to hemispherical bottom wall thickness was examined; equation of second order of potential energy of shell stability was solved by Ritz method; semiempirical formula was established based on results obtained.
