Hydraulic proof-testing of Texas Eastern's 24-in. line is described; pipe line traversed roughest terrain yet encountered in hydrostatic testing after construction of 3313 mi of cross-country, major gas transmission lines; elevation changes from 460 ft to 2330 ft above sea level were traversed; all main line sections were physically yielded and large part was carried to stress level between 14.2% and 9.4% above minimum specified yield of 52,000 psi with all pipe carried to at least 2.4% above minimum specified yield.
