Corrosion protection of thin precast concrete sections
New electrical resistance technique for measuring rate of corrosion of steel reinforcing described; method employs thin ribbon 0.008 × 0.25 in. as resistance element embedded in 6 × 12 in. thin panels, and Kelvin bridge sensitive to 0.0001 ohm; data plotted in dimensionless parameter form enable determination of time required for cross sectional area of reinforcing to decrease by one half due to corrosion.
