New lock and dam at Morgantown, W Va, are designed as part of future plans which call for 12 ft Monongahela river channel; project includes 67 ft high dam with six 60 ft wide tainter gates; total lift through lock is 18 ft; lock chamber is 84 by 600 ft; heavy gates for lock, as well as tainter gates were transported by barge 110 mi on Ohio and Monongahela rivers to project site.
