Bonding action of clays -- Pt II: Clays in dry molding sands
Continuation of study indexed in Engineering Index 1945 p 957, from Report Investigations n 102 1945; sands bonded with halloysite or kaolinite clays develop greatly increased strength without much loss of water when rammed specimens are allowed to dry slowly; this so-called air set strength is different from green strength or dry strength and was not found in sands bonded with montmorillonite or illite clays. (See also Ill State Geol Survey -- Report n 110 Investigations 1946 30 p)
