Elastic analysis of strata movement observed in vicinity of inclined excavations
Rock movements were measured in vicinity of longwall excavations at depth in Witwatersrand gold mine; results were compared with theoretical elastic response of idealized stope; good correlation obtained led to conclusion that deformations in rock mass induced by mining may be described or predicted in terms of elastic theory.
