Tests of bearing capacity of wooden roof supports indicate that bearing capacity depends on number of crossings and position of individual timber pieces; effect of kind of wood used and treatment to which it was subjected on bearing capacity; use of round timber and split logs is not recommended; better results were achieved with hardwood props than with timber cribs.
