Article presents derivation of basic equations used in constructing nomograph for solution of fire flow problems; it is often necessary to determine whether system can supply adequate quantities of water for residential, commercial, and fire flow demands; fire flow test will provide relatively accurate information about supply of water available under given conditions of demand; basic equation used to construct nomograph is well-known Hazen-Williams formula.
