Improvement in heat-treatment regimes for hot-extruded Kh8 and Kh5M steel tubes; cracks formed in tubes during subsequent cold reduction after hot extrusion with graphite lubricant and oxidizing annealing to remove carburized surface layer; cracks are caused by retention of some martensite in structure of tubes; satisfactory results were obtained by tempering annealed tubes for 2 hr at 740 to 780 C before cold rolling.
