Free transverse vibrations of rectangular plate simply supported along periphery and rigidly connected to its interior columns is solved by subdividing structure into elementary components -- plate and columns, and replacing connections between these components by harmonic restraining forces at connections; examples are presented to illustrate approach and to show effect of bending stiffness of supporting columns on natural frequencies of system.
