Local plastic buckling of A514 steel members
Study concerned with local buckling of "outstanding" plate elements subjected to uniform axial compression loads is discussed; axial-compression tests were conducted on fabricated A514 steel members to determine proportions of steel I-shaped beams, angles, and other shapes with outstanding compression elements so that members will sustain large plastic strains without local buckling; test data are reported and compared with various local-plastic-buckling theories.
