Effect of soil-mineral weathering on sodium hazard of irrigation waters
Extent to which release of solutes from soil-mineral weathering processes changes composition of applied irrigation waters was evaluated for six arid-land soils; waters were found to gain in Ca plus Mg content after reaction with soils, with resultant decreases in sodium-adsorption-ratio values; importance of this phenomenon in evaluation of Na hazard of irrigation waters is discussed.
