Strengthening of large shafts by means of surface work hardening instead of heat treatment; it is shown experimentally that endurance limit of shaft's load carrying capacity of which is determined by fatigue limit can be increased by up to 93% by normalizing followed by cold plastic deformation applied to stress concentration zones by means of rolling; method is more economical and convenient than conventional heat treatment methods.
