Large Melbourne sewerage pipes laid above ground
It is shown how by laying about 730 ft of sewer above natural ground level Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works obtained increase of 17% in available fall of 20 ml long South Eastern Sewer under construction; twin reinforced concrete pipes, 68 in. diam, were used which made it possible for pipes to be laid at higher level without lessening ultimate depth of cover.
