In situ permeabilities for determining rates of consolidation
Use of in situ permeability test to predict rate of consolidation of foundation soils; methods of testing and calculation are presented and sources of error in performing test are discussed; in situ permeability is used to estimate rate of settlement on several projects; rate of settlement as estimated using in situ permeability agreed with rate measured by settlement platforms; relationship was found to exist in wide range of foundation soil types.
