Public works project is described to improve streets and drainage in Stickney Township, Ill; for street improvements, soil cement was used to stabilize bases, when streets were covered with 2 in. of asphalt; depending on conditions in particular area, contractor either set up central-mix plant to process base material or mixed it in place; excavation for central-mix operation was done with track-type end loader, motor grader and dump trucks; equipment as well as self-loading scrapers were used for in-place processing.
