Determination of asphalt content in hot bituminous mixes with portable nuclear asphalt content gage
Samples of hot bituminous concrete were prepared to develop initial system calibration; mixes were tested with nuclear gage and nuclear test results were then paired with actual design asphalt contents to yield regression curve; standard deviations were computed and some results were compared with results for same samples using ASTM methods; sensitivity of newly developed gage was shown to be better than on order of plus or minus 0.25% of actual content.
