Ultimate moment resisting capacity of reinforced concrete sections
Set of formulas based on trapezoidal stress block is presented which offers alternative to formulas for ultimate moment capacity of reinforced concrete rectangular and T-sections based on equivalent rectangular compressive concrete stress distribution; in deriving formulas, maximum ratio of reinforcement is so limited that ultimate strength of sections is always controlled by tension; procedure is illustrated by examples for rectangular section with compression reinforcement and for T-section.
