Economic aspects in design of some reinforced concrete structural members
Relationship is expressed between strength of concrete mixes and their cost, in terms of unit costs of materials used; expressions are derived for optimum dimensions of one-way slabs, two-way slabs, rectangular slabs, T-beams, and ribbed slabs, when subject to bending; expressions are also derived for cost of tied columns subjected to concentrated loads and for beams subjected to shear force; cost of forming and of nominal reinforcement is considered.
