Effect of restraint on fire resistance of prestressed concrete
Results and impressions gained in exploratory study of effect of varying intensities of restraint of thermal expansion of precast, prestressed concrete double-tee floor elements during course of standard fire exposure; results are for standard fire tests on 6 prestressed normal weight concrete double-tee elements of similar manufacture; main variable was amount of linear expansion along axis of span allowed before further expansion was stopped; relationships between given expansion, resulting expansion forces, and midspan deflection changes in location of center of thrust at ends of members during course of fire exposure are discussed.
