Construction of Rechicourt lock on Marne-Rhine canal
Lock for 350 ton barges has 15.70-m level difference and will replace 6 other locks; it will be built on deviation of canal; to make operational cycle same as that of neighboring locks, rate of filling and emptying must be high (4 to 5 m/min); tests performed on scale model gave design data for quick-acting operational system; lock is built from solid nonreinforced concrete; gates and sluices are hydraulically operated.
