Use of magnesium has been limited because of its inflammable nature; to overcome misconception of "fire hazard," tests were conducted at Memphis showing how quickly magnesium fires could be controlled; in demonstration using magnesium grindings, chips, castings and scraps, fires were all extinguished in from 1 1/2 to 3 min.
