Digital computer solution for pavement deflections
Method is presented for calculating deflections of pavement slab of arbitrary size and shape, resting on elastic foundation, and sustaining vertical loads; example given in which concentrated load is applied to center of long side of 6×10 ft rectangular concrete slab; method provides convenient means for comparing theoretical behavior of pavement slabs varying in dimension or load placement, or having supporting foundations varying in elastic properties; it also furnishes comparison with laboratory and field test data.
