Design, construction and testing of prestressed concrete reactor pressure vessel model
One-sixth-scale model prestressed concrete pressure vessel; investigation demonstrated that concrete vessel can replace by single composite structure, thick-walled steel pressure vessels with independent concrete biological shield, as currently used in gas cooled, graphite-moderated nuclear power stations; it appears to offer considerable economic advantages, without any diminution of high safety standards demanded by industry.
