Study of cause of nonuniformity in compressive strength of concrete pavement cores
Study carried out by Illinois Division of Highways indicates that position of coarse aggregate particles in specimen does not affect greatly uniformity of compressive strength, amount of coarse aggregate particles in specimen does have effect, segregation of coarser particles of aggregate from finer ones also has effect, and that part of non-uniformity of compressive strength is due to difference in age of specimens at time of test.
