Face air temperatures during drivage of deep heading
In driving lateral heading at depth of 3000 ft at Sneyd mine, Great Britain, temperature of air available to ventilate heading was never below 72 F and virgin strata temperature (VST) for whole length of this level heading was 95 F; survey of temperature and humidity was made as heading progressed and increase in effective temperature was observed; evaporation of moisture is most important factor in determining face air temperature in deep heading; without evaporation intake air temperature soon approaches VST.
