Shaft lining and grouting problems associated with cotgrave and bevercotes shafts
Problems associated with sinking of two concrete-lined shafts in Nottinghamshire area of England where heavily watered strata were encountered; importance of correct placing, mix and thickness of lining is stressed; lining thickness is particularly important in thinner sections; freezing, cement grouting and chemical grouting were employed; majority of grouting was carried out through shaft lining, with pressures limited to 300 psi. (see also v 209 n 5409-10 Dec 18-25 1964 p 817-26)
