249×30 m building in Mantua (Italy) has flat roof of 163 m long center span suspended from four steel chains stretched between traverses of two 45 m high reinforced concrete portal frames; chain-links consist of about 10 m long steel lamellae bolted together; roof construction consists of 1.50 m high longitudinal continuous lattice beams stiffened transversely and diagonally, and is suspended from chains by means of vertical hangers; top of roof framework is covered with aluminum sheets, bottom side with corrugated plastic sheets; intermediate space acts as heat insulation.
