General and simplified solutions obtained by various investigators for joint displacement theories are reviewed; factors influencing accuracy of neglecting joint displacements are discussed and examples selected from literature to illustrate effect of joint displacements are presented; approximation of simple beam theory; I.Gaafar and B.C.Roberts elastic model tests performed on folded plate structures are described.
