Quench cracking susceptibility of steel; factors influencing susceptibility to cracking; 4 test methods were used and it was found that Chapman-Jominy and Udy-Barnett methods are capable of providing information on cracking susceptibility; second method, somewhat modified, can be better adapted to small laboratory heats; results obtained confirm known influence of Ms temperature and percentage of carbon content on cracking susceptibility.
