Mining through 48-In. circular shafts
Two small diameter shafts were completed in Wyoming's Gas Hills uranium district by rotary boring methods to gain quick access to ore bodies; first shaft was drilled 377 ft at 60-in. diam and lined with 48-in. casing in 30 days; similar second shaft, 435 ft deep, was later put down and lined over period of three weeks.
