State of stress of loaded prefabricated shell in form of 18×18 m hyperbolic paraboloid; results are given of tests for strength, rigidity and crack resistance performed on roof shell in form of four intersecting hyperbolic paraboloids assembled from prefabricated concrete panels and trusses; state of stress was found to differ widely from that predicted by membrane theory of shells; new simplified method of panel joining is proposed which dispenses with welding of reinforcing steel protruding from panel edges.
