Split-tensile strength of lime-stabilized soils
Principles of split test (diametral compression test for determining tensile strength), evaluation of test, and application of test procedure to lime-soil mixtures; split-tensile and compressive strength test results are given for 11 soils; results show that lime-soil mixtures develop substantial tensile strength and that split-tensile strength is closely correlated with unconfined compressive strength; soil type, lime treatment, and length of curing period influence magnitude of split-tensile and compressive strengths, but do not affect ratio between strengths.
