Cement stabilization of volcanic materials for pavements
Investigation of Materials Testing Laboratory operated by Zia Co at Los Alamos, NM on feasibility of using volcanic tuffs and their associated residual soils as aggregates for soil-cements; results of testing program indicate that tuffs and sandy soils of Los Alamos can be used to produce extremely stable soil-cement mixtures at low cement contents, addition of cement can be used to lower compaction effort in some instances, and cement requirement can be lowered by using modified Proctor densities and Type III cement.
