Load carrying capacity of concrete pavements according to tests in situ; investigation comprises theoretical study, tests in situ, and laboratory model tests; infinite and finite length slabs are studied; road pavements are classified as plates of finite dimensions; crack patterns, distribution of critical forces, and distribution of primary (residual) deformations are examined; crack pattern obtained from model tests, and envelope of maximum tensile stresses are presented for plate subjected to constant moving load; analysis applicable to pavement design according to theory of ultimate load-carrying capacity.
