Local instability in plates and channel struts
Theoretical and experimental investigation of initial buckling of thin flat rectangular plate is presented; method is outlined whereby theoretical plate buckling load of plain and lipped channel sections are obtained from individual buckling characteristics of web and flange plates; it is shown that good agreement is obtained between these theoretical loads and corresponding experimental values obtained by author.
